Wale started his professional career from Standard Trust Banks (now UBA) in January 2002 before later joining Nigeria’s leading telecommunication giant MTN Nigeria in October 2002 where he work till 2007 when he resigned his appointment as General Ledger Accountant. He joined Bank PHB in Jan 2008 and latter Guaranty Trust Bank in the same year as the bank’s Market Risk Analyst.
He started his second missionary journey at MTN in Jan 2010 and rose to become the Regional Sales Manager SouthSouth for the Telecom giant the position he held till 2015 before leaving for Canada in 2016. Wale’s professional experience at MTN Nigeria proved useful at Rogers Communications, Brampton, where he assisted the project team to develop and implement the Aptitude system, a revenue management software which ensures subscriber billing are IASB – IFRS 15 compliant.
Furthermore, Wale Rabiu devotes his time to helping other black-owned businesses in Canada set up operations and map out their route-to market and upscaling strategies
Wale Rabiu -A serial entrepreneur who has successfully founded three businesses in Canada since he arrived in 2016- Grey Matlock Bakery, and Spring in April Inc. and Rubic Consulting Inc.
Wale Rabiu an indigene of Ogun State was born in Ibadan, on October 8, 1975. Graduated from Ogun State University, Nigeria in 1999 with a BSc Accounting degree, went on to earn a Masters In Managerial Psychology (MMP) from The University of Ibadan in 2016 and he is also an alumnus of the University of Leicester, UK, where he earned an MBA-Finance in 2007.
In December 2017 he became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
Grey Matlock Bakery was incorporated in 2018 and started operation in March of the same year. Grey Matlock Bakery has experienced immense growth selling its products (Agege Bread and Butterfilled Sliced Bread) in over 300 African and Caribbean stores and over Chains of Loblaw Stores like No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, Zehr etc across Canada.
The Bakery also has five franchise locations in Calgary, Ottawa, Oshawa, Waterloo, and Windsor. Grey Matlock Bakery products are enjoyed by Canada’s growing African population as well as other ethnic nationalities across Canada.
Adewale’s success in entrepreneurship in Canada is no stroke of luck, as he was also a successful Poultry Farmer back in Abeokuta, Nigeria, before coming to Canada. At its peak, his Poultry farm had over 20,000 laying birds with egg production in excess of 400 crates daily.
He also owned a Diesel distribution business, selling diesel to various banks and private residential estates across Lagos, Nigeria.
When Adewale is not managing his three Canadian businesses and improving business processes, and upscaling projects for other businesses in his community.
Samuel is an experienced senior product designer and digital transformation expert with over 15 years of experience working with top brands across sectors such as banking, fintech, telecoms, and government in delivering impactful solutions and products.
He has led initiatives and delivered world-class products from concept to customer’s hand, far beyond the shores of Nigeria. He recently managed and grew a product with over 65 million users covering the Caribbean islands, Latin America (LATAM), French West Indies and the Pacific region. More so, his experience extends into the public sector. He was responsible for the entire design (solution, UX & UI) of the EdoGov platform. Similarly, he consulted for the Barbados Government in transforming ideas from the government-led hackathon to actual products.
He has supported many incubating start-ups and fintech on lean-agile product strategy as the Head of Innovation for Wema Bank after launching ALAT by Wema, Nigeria’s first fully digital bank. Before these roles, he worked with Etisalat, Yuuzoo (Singapore) and GTBank and consulted for Nigeria’s leading financial institutions – Zenith Bank, UBA and Access Bank – in different capacities.
Samuel holds a B.Sc. Computer Science degree from Lagos State University. He is certified across several disciplines, such as User Experience Designer (UXD), SAFe – Scaled Agile Product Owner/Product Management, and others from the British Computer Society (BCS), Scrum.org, ITIL, MIT Management Executive Education (Global Ivy Education) to mention a few.
